There are three ‘Lee’s you need to take note of in this Business Communication end of the Social Media universe:
- Lee LeFever and his wife Sachi — creators of the ever-brilliant ‘CommonCraft‘ series of videos that explain Social Media tools and philosophies in such an effective way
- Lee Potts — creator of VisualBeing, a very successful multi-author blog on presentation and now running his stand-alone blog, Breaking Murphy’s Law
- Lee Hopkins — the humble scribe who genuflects before you.
Lee Potts has just added another belter of a post (that means ‘very good’) to his solo blog. Entitled The Seven Principles of Presentation Disaster Avoidance (Version 0.1 beta) Lee has listed out seven principles that he believes that no amount of preparation can, well, prepare you for.
Those who attended my Melcrum Social Media 101 Workshop last Wednesday in Sydney will attest to the attendance of many of the seven gremlins!
I can particularly relate to two of Lee’s principles:
1. If you can’t do without it, make sure you won’t have to.
2. Any rational response to “What’s the worse that can happen?” is most likely wrong.
Check out the rest of them yourself, add to the discussion about whether there are, in fact, any more principles hiding in the wings and waiting to knock over your precariously balanced laptop; I remember Alex Manchester once whizzed past my laptop at one of our joint presentations and unfortunately caught the sound cable coming out of my laptop’s headphone socket. The socket and the sound were never the same again
