My friend Laurel Papworth will be in Adelaide on Thursday 20th November as part of the Adelaide leg of the national CPA Congress.
Leveraging the power of social networking – the rise of the corporate Facebook
Laurel Papworth, CEO, World CommunitiesMyspace, Facebook, YouTube and other social media sites are but a small part of the tools that both customers and companies can use to communicate with each other. Within the organisation and outside are challenges and opportunities that are only just now being seen as game changes.
Learn of the paradigm shift is that social networks introduce to the economy.
- What is Web 2.0 (and what happened to Web 1.0?)
- What types of social media sites are there? Blogs, wikis, Facebook, Twitter – what is the difference?
- How does Software as a Service (SaaS) fit into this?
- What impact will social networks have in the future? On recruiting accounting staff? On the finance industry?
Laurel is presenting at 5.40pm and I’m really looking forward to catching up with her at the conference (and heckling from the back row!).
I’ve got a guest pass because I’ll be co-presenting at an in-world event within Second Life as part of the whole CPA congress. The in-world presentation is an ‘invite only’ affair, sorry, but if you are a CPA and interested in attending, please email the specialist team at CPA Australia.
My co-presenter is the rather fabulous Lindy McKeown, aka ‘Decka Mah’ in Second Life. As you can see from her work/research history, Lindy is a font of wisdom and knowledge on 3D Virtual World issues. I can’t wait to see her presentation!
I also can’t wait to catch up with Laurel again — what this woman doesn’t know about social networking could be written on the head of a very small pin.
