Donna Tocci over at Kryptonite is back from a huge ‘jolly’ as we know them here at BetterComms Towers. A ‘jolly’ means an event or a trip that was fun, probably involved alcohol in some form or another, and was most importantly ‘without cost’.
Donna has been at a trade show and is flush with products to give away; all her own products, that is… she’s not giving away competitor products!
Zip on over to Facebook, join the Kryptonite Locks group and start taking happy snaps of yourself. Here’s ‘the go’*, as we also say here:
Just got oodles of products back from a powersports trade show. They are all sitting in my office….time to give something away….
We did this for cyclists earlier this year….now, it’s time to give away something for a motorcycle owner….
Ok, same rules. Post a photo here of you using your Kryptonite lock with your motorcycle (or scooter) by May 1st and the best one wins a disc lock. You choose which one…the Evolution series 4 Disc Lock, the New York Disc Lock, one of the stapler style ones…your choice.
C’mon tell your friends and get in your photos.
You’ve got to be in it to win it…
*I reckon that with all this slang I’m going to have to start educating you all on Aussie-speak. I know that ‘AussieSlang‘ is over on Twitter, but perhaps I can pinch his/her idea and do something on this blog. I shall ponder… In the meantime, ‘the go’ is the ‘what you need to do’.
psssst… can you see how you can effectively market your company through Facebook? Do you still think that not having a Facebook strategy is a good idea?

Do their locks work, now? Seriously, I haven’t heard word one that they do… or have been corrected … or are improved.
Kryptonite = crap = shoddy = don’t work. Why should I want to get her giveaway stuff, when I wouldn’t accept her own product if she gave it away?
Or did I miss something?

Wow Allan that was 4 years ago! For someone who, in my personal opinion, is on top of just about everything in the blogosphere, I’m surprised that you did miss the full story. Yes,
sensation “sells” in the blogosphere just like anywhere else so the ‘good’ part of the story didn’t get as much coverage. But, there was a fair amount of coverage on what we did after the incident.
We replaced over 400,000 locks in 21 countries for FREE. No shipping, no handling - free. Didn’t matter what year the lock was either - got one from 1980? Replaced. Got 8 locks total with that cylinder? Replaced. Got a tubular lock that wasn’t even our brand? Replaced.
Allan, this has all been documented oodles of times - go over to Shel Israel’s site and see my interview (and all of his follow up posts since) from the summer of 2005. Go to Dave Taylor’s site and see the interview I did there in December, 2005. Check ‘em out.
