1stbaseThe Social Media TeleSummit run by Leesa Barnes is almost at an end - but WHAT a blimmin’ amazing summit it’s been so far!

You still have two days to register to nab some of the goodies on downloadable offer, and if I were you I’d make the investment.

Even the free e-book you get just for registering is a cracker!

capulet-logo Written by Darren Barefoot and Julie Szabo of Capulet Communications (that’s them in the photo above), it is a superb document. Truly superb!

Here’s an example of the text:

Who Isn’t This Book For?
There are a few marketing-related groups who probably won’t reap much benefit from this book. This book isn’t for you if:

• You don’t know the Internet from a Christmas cactus. This is not an introduction to the web, and you’ll be lost by page nine.

• You’re a senior executive vice-president at a Fortune 500 company, and you’re looking to make a six-figure technology investment. This book is about spending time, not money. Most of the websites and services we discuss are cheap or free, so you’ll just end up depleting your quarterly budget on another team-building trip to Rapa Nui. There are enterprise-class services out there who want your money, but we’ll leave those evaluations to the Forresters and Gartners.

• You’re already swimming in the social media Koolaid. If you’ve been a blogger for five years and have more than 500 Facebook friends, you’re going to enjoy limited returns. There are a number of case studies and anecdotes that will be new to you, but the rest will probably be old hat. On the other hand, we probably gave you a copy of this book for free (in the hopes that you’ll blog about it), so you’re already ahead of the game.

• Your target market is under the age of sixteen. This book is about marketing to adults—teens and tweens live in a whole other world. We’ve included some recommended reading at the end of the book for marketing to the adolescent crowd.

• You just want to sell widgets. We can help you get your message out and build relationships with online influencers, but we’re marketers, not sales folks. Everything we know about closing the deal we learned from Glengarry Glen Ross.

See? They have a sense of humour, and also realism.

It’s worth getting the book on its own, but then when you bundle it with the Summit itself:

Each of the Summit members has a phenomenal amount of real-life experience of business success on the internet, particularly in Social Media.

As I type this I’m listening to Scott Paton about creating a large revenue stream with podcasting. He’s obviously been involved in internet marketing for quite a few years, and he’s dropping names of the ‘early gurus’ and the many conversations he’s enjoyed with them.

Scott firmly believes that 1993 (the dawn of the www) has come around again, this time with podcasting. The opportunity to create wealth and carve new markets out of thin air is with us again, he argues.

He provides us with lots of case studies about how he has created significant income without advertising. That’s right, no Adwords!

Twenty-five minutes into his session and I’ve already been amazed by the insights and cool ideas he’s sparked in me. This is one smart bloke!

Even though half of the summit has already gone, if you hurry you can get in and listen to the rest of the speakers (here’s the schedule). Once a session is ended the call is available for listening to, but only up to Feb 29th. So you can listen to the earlier sessions, and of course you can still sit in and take part to the rest of what is coming:
