Election success might come down to Facebook

we're voting for the friendliest politicians in Facebook

My tall, dark, handsome and very learned co-writing colleague Trevor Cook points out that the Internet has grown in importance as far as electioneering is concerned.

Figures aren’t in yet, but it would appear that the Internet in Australia is exceptionally important this time around, as both parties are finally focusing some attention on the atrocious state of our broadband.

But recent research has suggested that it is the ‘friendliness’ of the politician in social circles that may well be the final determinant.

According to Santo Fortunato of the Institute for Scientific Interchange in Turin, Italy, as explained by Mark Buchanan of the New Scientist magazine,

“The most important factor determining a candidate’s success compared with rivals in the same party turns out to be his or her personal ability to connect with the public. In other words, the key factor could be how many friends you’ve got on Facebook.”

Bugger YouTube or Kev’s Web1.0 site, bring on Little Johnnie’s Facebook page!

Mind you, the funniest thing doing the rounds about the whole election is a spoof song video on YouTube. Trouble is, I cannot find the damn video — commentors, I rely on you to provide the link!

Of course, my own home-town crew from the Adelaide Law Review have the sublime ‘Beers with Kevin’ (to the tune of ‘Tears in Heaven’).

And I leave you with the ‘Both Deserve an AO gong’ team of Clarke and Dawe, aboard the good ship TitanicAustralia.

Bloody marvellous! The Games is still my favourite comedy of all time.

Mind you, very little will ever replace the Election Results from the Monty Python crew — and how many political pundits on tv look like the complete prats satirised in this video.

Stumble it!
