“I need my blog to be an outlet for me to express things I’m seeing long before they’re ready for publication. I need to not have to couch every argument that I make on my blog in broader theoretical and methodological frameworks which means that I will continue to be taken out of context. If I had to write on my blog in the way that I write papers, I’d never blog.”

North American academic Danah Boyd on the responses to her paper on social classes, MySpace and Facebook.

Struth, even though I’m very proud of my academic outpourings, if I had a choice to either read my 2,000 or 4,000 or 10,000 word papers as blogposts, or go walk the dog, you’d better believe that even *I* would take the dog for a walk!
