Memories... like the corners of my mind... misty, watercoloured memories... of the way we were
EverybodyToGo has a fantastic post on the things you no longer see on websites as a result of how the web is ‘grown up’ and fulfilling its adolescent potential.

We have moved from Web 1.0 to Web 2.0 (there’s a good article about Web 2.0 on Everybody’s site, too).

A few of the things we no longer see (thankfully):

  • “Best Viewed In” [name your browser of choice]
  • “Get Flash Player”
  • “Click here to Enter/Launch” - The dreaded splash screen (although not totally eradicated, alas)
  • ‘Flash’ intros
  • “Loading please wait…”
  • Animated 3D gif’s
  • Blinking text
  • Frames
  • Hit Counters (although I still occasionally find one)
  • “Please sign my guestbook”

Any more you can think of that you no longer miss?
