The difference between animal rights and animal welfare

An interesting post has been published on the blog of one of my clients, the RSPCA in South Australia.
They have recently been ‘copping some stick’ (aka ‘getting a bit of a hammering’) from some quarters of the msm (mainstream media) over a local piggery. So the post explains the difference between the RSPCA’s position as an animal welfare organisation and one of their fiercest critics, Animal Liberation, who are seemingly of an ‘animal rights’ philosophy.
Whilst I assist the RSPCA in SA with their blogging strategy, and set up their blog, the content itself (pdf) came from the RSPCA’s main website in Australia.
A thought-provking read. I’m sure the RSPCA in SA would welcome your views.
