IBM internet gurus are as frustrated as Lee is by current inability to meet upSometimes, with all the best will in the world, meetings between like-minded souls just can’t happen.

I refer in this instance to a meeting betwixt David Boloker, CTO Emerging Internet Technologies, IBM Software Group, Brad Kasell (David’s Oz-based colleague) and myself.

Poor Christine Campbell at Text100 in Sydney has been trying to get the three of us together while David is over here visiting, but it has so far not been possible with our respective client commitments. Bother!

David and Brad have been able to catch up a few times with my colleague-in-arms Trevor Cook, but alas I have not been able to juggle pre-existing client commitments and travel.

You will remember, of course, that recently Trevor and I released a widely-praised White Paper on Social Media — “Social Media, or How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love Communication”. Well, one of the areas that Trevor and I didn’t focus too much attention on was wikis, for very sound reasons: most Australian businesses are barely coping with the word ‘blog’; throw in ‘wiki’ and you are going to be able to count the eyes glazing over in your audience.

But Brad and David have just published a superb intro to wikis over on YouTube and I can not recommend it highly enough as a way of getting your head around yet another new and extremely powerful tool in the business communications and collaboration arsenal.

As Molly Meldrum used to say, “Do yourself a favour…” — whip over to YouTube and be both engaged and informed. Definitely worthwhile.

Then, if you want to discuss what they are talking about further, call me: +61 (0)410 642 052.

Hi Lee - Apologies that we’re not able to hook up this time, but will plan on catching up with you shortly. Thanks for the kind words re: QEDWiki - I’m sure that it will prove interesting to you and I look forward to setting up a proper demo.

Cheers, Brad Kasell
