“Who will buy this wonderful web2.0 PR morning?”

Stuart Bruce, shivering as he does in the north of England in winter (time to take a holiday over here, matey!)–inter multi alia–raises an interesting question, One that has been reverberating around the PR/Comms part of the blogosphere for the last few hours (does it stun anyone else how quickly this stuff becomes ‘old hat’?).
Since the ‘big’ PR agencies seem to be catching a whiff of what is happening in the new ’social media’ web world and hiring luminaries away left, right and centre (and how annoyed must CooperKatz be that they lost Rubel — who will replace him?) what will happen to/with the current crop of web2.0 ‘gurus’ (’A’ and ‘B’ list bloggers)?
Stuart has put himself up for hire, as has Josh Hallett (I’ve offered him a job but the commute is a bit of a haul). I doubt that there’s many of we current bloggers who wouldn’t jump at the chance of, as Stuart says, doing
a lot more to move forward many of the ideas I have about how the public relations profession should really be embracing blogs and social media.
What will happen in the next 12-18 months, say, to the current crop of interesting reads?
One thing for sure, Australia is so far behind the eight-ball that Trevor Cook would no doubt agree that my career as a self-employed consultant is safe for the meantime… But what of Donna P, or Heidi, or Shel, or Neville, or Allan?
Those are the folks I can immediately think of off the top of my head — no doubt I have forgotten others (and will duly flagellate myself tomorrow morning my time when I re-read this post and go “DOH! Why did I not mention them????”)
