MyHeidi's latest podcast rocks! favourite Chicagoan, the divine Heidi M, recently shared some great information on microphones for podcasting — both desk-bound and roaming-interview types.

Grabbing hold of an extremely friendly and helpful* muso at her local musicians shop, she is led and leads us through the differences between microphone pickup patterns, condenser and dynamic microphones, what phantom power is (only The Shadow knows), pricing and how to plug a mic into an ancient (as in two years’ old) Mac.

Seeing that she’s a Mac lover, it would only be churlish of me to point out to Heidi that pcs have had those little plug holes for decades…

Fantastic information in yet another winning podcast from Heidi — you already subscribe to it, don’t you? Don’t you?

* and who wouldn’t be if it is was the divine Miss H grabbing you?

Yes, Chicago Guitar Center’s Illogic is now famous through the podosphere, isn’t he? Seriously, he was wonderful to sit down and explain all that to a non-audiophile like myself. And we spoke again this week, as I bemoaned all the difficulties I’ve been having with the Snowball as well.

A podcaster’s research is never done!
