The power of the blogosphere to disrupt

But is she happy?I’m wondering if Christine Birkner is feeling so happy about having her name at the bottom of the now-infamous email that Allan Jenkins has so eruditely commented about.

David Parmet googled her name and Allan and my posts are 1 and 2 in the results.

Ooops!

Once again the power of the blogosphere to disrupt and reveal is shown in all its glory.

Of course, the salutory lesson for we communicators is to be ’squeaky clean’ with our material, our sources and ourselves. And also to monitor the blogosphere and the traditional search engines for mentions of us and our clients.

Because now I have a feeling in my tummy-tum-tum that unless Christine (or her boss) starts appearing in the blogosphere herself to explain and to answer questions then Bacon’s could have a bit of a PR disaster on its hands.

Of course, I know a bloke who is very good with Crisis Comms plans, but somehow I don’t think Bacon’s will contact him…ever again.

Update: Allan has a final post on the saga and David St Lawrence reveals that he too wrote back to them asking for explanations

I have a funny feeling someone at Bacons is not to happy about how this is all playing out. And I have my server logs to show someone from Bacons has been bouncing back and forth between my blog and Allan’s all afternoon!
